Toyota Raize Scores Five-star Rating at JNCAP Crash Test

In August 2020, Maruti Suzuki and Toyota plan to launch the Urban Cruiser compact SUV.

A Japanese automotive manufacturer, Toyota is planning to launch the compact SUV named the Raize by the end of 2020. After carrying out several tests, the Japan New Car Assessment Programme (JNCAP) prompts the safety rating of the Raize, which represent real-life accidents. Daihatsu Rocky and Toyota Raize secured a magnificent five-star rating in collision safety by scoring 85.7 points out of 100 in the JNCAP crash tests. The vehicle performed remarkably well in the side and front-impact tests. The Raize has also secured an ASV++ rating by scoring 73.6 points out of 141 in safety performance testing.

Moreover, the vehicle scored well in the rear-view and lane-keep monitoring tests. Daihatsu and Toyota co-developed the sub-4-meter Rocky and Raize SUVs. Both the Rocky and Raize SUVs use the flexible DNGA (Daihatsu New Global Architecture) platform, which is a low-cost version of the TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform for emerging markets. The Daihatsu Rocky sub-4-meter SUV features the same engine-gearbox, platform, and dimensions options as the Toyota Raize.

The JNCAP only tests the vehicles that are available in Japan’s domestic market whereas the Global New Car Assessment Programme (Global NCAP) tests the vehicles that are available in several emerging markets to increase cooperation between various NCAP agencies. However, each NCAP has its protocols for performing crash tests and scoring, so the results are not similar. However, it is good for any car to get the highest rating of five stars. In 2019, Maruti Suzuki plans to introduce a midsize SUV in the Indian market with the help of Toyota. The new SUV will be based on the DNGA platform, similar to the Toyota Rise.
