Toyota Plans to Launch RAV4 SUV by mid-2021

Toyota is planning to launch the RAV4 SUV in the Indian automotive market by mid-2021. The company plans to import the SUV to India in limited numbers. Almost every carmaker wants to step into the growing compact SUV segment as this segment is the hottest one in the country. The RAV4 SUV is one of the company’s most popular SUV in the global market. The fifth-gen RAV4 is built on the company’s TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform. Now, the SUV has a relatively low, car-like stance, as well as edgy and angular styling.

The all-new RAV4 measures 4,600 mm in length, 1,855 mm in width, and 1,685 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,690 mm. The SUV features the instrument panel, touchscreen, center console, vents, and even air-con controls, giving the cabin a modern feel. Moreover, the interior is designed with plenty of storage spaces. The India-spec RAV4 is expected to be equipped with a 2.5-liter petrol engine that delivers 218 hp of power along with a hybrid system. The SUV is expected to deliver excellent fuel efficiency and performance.

Toyota’s hybrid driveline system provides around 80% of the torque to the rear wheels. Toyota will import the RAV4 SUV under the 2,500-unit quota in India, as it reduces the cost and time required to bring vehicles to local showrooms. The SUV is expected to hit the Indian market by mid-2021. The expected price of the SUV is US$ 80148.01 (Rs 60 lakh, ex-showroom). The company has also confirmed the launch of the all-new Urban Cruiser (compact SUV) in the Indian market. The SUV is expected to be launched in India in September 2020. Moreover, Toyota has launched the limited edition Fortuner TRD in the Indian car market.
