Maruti Suzuki has started testing seven-seater Wagon R in India ahead of its launch. The three-row Wagon R is expected to be launched in India in late 2020 or early 2021. The hatchback was showcased in concept form almost 7 years ago at the auto event in Indonesia. Since then there was no news about this model, a new test model has been spotted on the outskirts of New Delhi, India, indicating that the company is moving ahead with the project. The test mule looks quite similar to the Wagon R-based electric vehicle that has been spotted several times. However, the major difference is mainly with the vehicle's length.
The length of the seven-seater Wagon R is a few hundred millimeters more than the standard model. Moreover, the three-row Wagon R is expected to be launched in the Indonesia first because extended hatchbacks are quite popular in Indonesian automotive market. However, the models sold in the Indonesian market are almost identical to those sold in the Indian automotive market. Maruti Suzuki is also expected to offer premium variants of the hatchback. However, the company has not yet revealed any details about the launch of India-bound Wagon R.
Moreover, Maruti Suzuki India Maruti Suzuki India is planning to launch two new vehicles under US$ 6633.45 segment to offer affordable mobility to low- and middle-income individuals, thus helping to expand the company’s entry-level portfolio. The first will be an all-new 800 cc model (codenamed Y0M) and the second will be powered by a 1.0-liter petrol engine (codenamed YNC). The company has not revealed the official names of both the vehicles yet. The company is also taking care of the new safety and emission regulations while developing low-cost models.
